Black Tuesday (1954)
Plot Summary
Vicious gangster Vincent Canelli (Edward G. Robinson) pulls off a daring prison escape just
moments before going to the electric chair, taking with him Peter
Manning (Peter Graves) - a bank robber and cop killer who was to die right after him.
Taking several hostages along, they try to get their hands on the loot
from Manning's robbery to finance their escape from the country.
A Night of Adventure (1944)
Plot Summary
Drama, romance and mystery plunge two socialites into a whirl of
adventure as they tangle with murder in an attempt to save the life of
an innocent man. Mark Latham, (Tom Conway) suave and sophisticated criminal attorney,
battles for the love of his estranged wife, Erica, (Audrey Long) who unwittingly
becomes involved with a murder suspect. The suspect, Tony Clark, (Louis Borel) finds
himself not only falsely accused of murder but is to be defended by the
husband of the woman he loves.
Cafe Hostess (1940)
Plot Summary
Jo (Ann Dvorak), a "percentage girl" at the notorious Club 46, is in
despair. She can see no way out of the dreary and sordid routine of
entertaining customers - called drinking and dancing in 1940 - and, at a
signal from piano player Eddie Morgan (Douglas Fowley), rolling them
for their money. Eddie, besides being brutal to her and spending all her
money, is also carrying on an affair with another girl. Jo's only
friend is Annie (Wynne Gibson), a former actress but now a drink-sodden
derelict. Annie keeps to herself the knowledge that it was Eddie who
threw the knife that killed a petty racketeer who was too attentive to
Jo. Sailor Dan Walters (Preston Foster) and two of his pals arrive from a
cruise and his good nature delights Jo, but at a wink from Eddie, Jo
attempts to steal his money. Dan swallows his disillusionment and
returns to the cafe, and he and Jo enjoy a day-long picnic together. She
accepts his marriage proposal and go to an up-state town where he has a
job waiting. Eddie does not accept this turn of events too well, and
sets a trap for Dan when he comes after Jo. When he arrives, in an
attempt to save his life, Jo denounces and ridicules him and he leaves
angrily. He is net by Annie, who tells him of the set-up. Gathering his
pals, Dan returns to the cafe and starts a brawl.
X-Men Oriigns: Wolverine (2009)
Plot Summary
Two mutant brothers, Logan and Victor, born 200 years ago, suffer
childhood trauma and have only each other to depend on. Basically,
they're fighters and killers, living from war to war through U.S.
history. In modern times, a U.S. colonel, Stryker, recruits them and
other mutants as commandos. Logan quits and becomes a logger, falling in
love with a local teacher. When Logan refuses to rejoin Stryker's crew,
the colonel sends the murderous Victor. Logan now wants revenge.
And Sudden Death (1936)
Plot
An heiress with a penchant for speeding runs afoul of a traffic cop.
Romance develops between the two, but it's soon complicated when he
believes she is responsible for killing someone due to reckless driving.
X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)
Plot Summary
When a private laboratory supported by the government finds the cure for
the mutants, using the DNA of a powerful boy, the mutants have the
option of giving up their powers and become human, but their society
split. Magneto opposes and decides to join a force to fight against the
government and kill the mutant boy. Meanwhile, Jean Grey resurrects
uncontrolled by Xavier and with the personality of the powerful Dark
Phoenix. She destroys Cyclops and Professor Charles Xavier, and allies
to the evil forces of Magneto, making them almost invincible.
Rocky Mountain Mystery (1935)
Plot Summary
A mining engineer named Larry Sutton (Randolph Scott) teams up with crusty deputy sheriff Tex Murdock (Chic Sale) to solve the
mystery killings at an old mine where the owner's family waits for him
to die, and where a valuable radium strike may have been made.
